While surfing the net this morning, I came across this wonderful article on Fox. In this article Greenspan blames Gen Xer’s for being unemployed and we’re the reason companies prefer to hire immigrants.
Greenspan is quoted as saying
“Baby boomers are being replaced by groups of young workers who have regrettably scored rather poorly in international educational match-ups over the last two decades. The average income of U.S. households headed by 25-year-olds and younger has been declining relative to the average income of the baby boomer population. This is a reasonably good indication that the productivity of the younger part of our workforce is declining relative to the level of productivity achieved by the retiring baby boomers. This raises some major concerns about the productive skills of our future U.S. labor force.”
Seriously? You want to blame the work ethic of your kids? Ya some people in my generation have slacked off, but everyone I know seems to be busting their ass to make ends meet. We’re the ones being saddled with a huge entitlement program established by Greenspan’s generation, paying into a Social Security system that will be exhausted by the time we are ready to retire, and now a mandatory health insurance.
Let’s look at your generation Alan. What has your generation done for us?
- Increased the National deficit to $14 Trillion
- Destroyed 2 nations in the Middle East and proceeded with Nation Building
- Supplied arms to the world’s most notorious terrorist…oh and we trained him too
- Currently in control of Corporate America where employees are no longer treated like an asset but treated like a disposable tool.
- Established a banking culture that has almost destroyed this country.
- NAFTA
- Enron
- Too big to fail
- And my personal favorite – OUTSOURCING
Honestly Alan, you really want to point the finger at my generation? Pardon us for refusing to kill ourselves to make you millions. Companies hire immigrants so they don’t have to pay them what their American counterparts would be paid. God forbid that American’s in business want a piece of the pie.
If the company can make millions a year, the board and the execs get fat bonuses, then I think the damn company can afford to give employees more than a 2-4% raise. That isn’t a raise….that’s a cost of living adjustment, and a failing one at that. Most middle Americans are tired of busting their rears to make others rich while they struggle to maintain standards of living.
